Lesbos update 14th January 2016: Today was a busy day
Five of them were guided by Sea-Watch, two needed to be towed due to engine failure, one boat was sinking at arrival. Each boat was totally overcrowded with about 50 people.

Financed by crowdfunding donations Sea-Watch could now afford to buy a bigger and more suitable ship for its missions in 2016. Details[youtube id=”JGicTfkdr70″] Again many refugee boats arrived on Lesbos today and all NGOs were working at maximum capacity. The boats need to be guided ashore by volunteers to asure a safe landing as most parts of Lesbos’ coast show steep and dangerous rocks.

DetailsWe spotted 2 boats at once, one completely full of water, sinking. We brought the chaotic situation under control and boarded women and children, including one new born and more than 5 toddlers. We handed out isolation blankets and calmed down the panicking people.
