Sea-Watch e.V. is looking for a Project- & Event-Coordinator (f/m/d)

January 2025, 20-32h (Full-time from April on)

Sea-Watch e.V. is a non-profit initiative dedicated to the civil sea rescue of people on the move. In view of the humanitarian disaster in the central Mediterranean Sea-Watch provides emergency aid, demands and at the same time forces the rescue by the responsible European institutions and publicly stands up for legal escape routes. We are politically and religiously independent and are financed exclusively by donations.

Position Overview

To coordinate the interdepartmental projects surrounding the 10th anniversary of Sea-Watch, we are looking for a Project- & Event-Coordination (f/m/d) with a weekly workload starting at 20 hours, increasing to full-time from April to September 2025. The position is limited to 12 months. This role can be based in our Berlin office or performed remotely with a willingness to travel.

Your tasks:

As the Project- & Event-Coordinator for our 10th Anniversary and the broader „10 Years of Civil Search and Rescue“ initiative, your primary duties will include:

  • Coordination of Interdepartmental Projects: Oversee and align the actions, events, advocacy, media initiatives, and fundraising activities connected to the 10-year anniversary across various Sea-Watch teams (Events, Media, Fundraising).
  • Event Coordination: Lead the planning and execution of a significant for „10 Years of Sea-Watch“ Events in Germany and Italy. Work with the Events Team and external Partners to ensure the successful execution of anniversary events.
  • Congress/Camp Planning: Lead the planning and execution of an SAR internal event, the „10 Years of Civil Search and Rescue Congress/Camp,“ collaborating closely with all involved teams and partners.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with Departments to promote the anniversary initiatives, ensuring cohesive and impactful messaging.
  • Budget & Fundraising Management: Monitor project budgets and fundraising activities, and ensure efficient allocation of resources to maximize impact while raise funds.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal and external stakeholders to align project goals and outcomes with Sea-Watch’s mission and vision.

Required skills and profile:

  • Experience: Proven professional experience in project and event coordination, preferably within the non-profit or political sector or in similar roles
  • Network:* You have strong relationships within the cultural / events sector that can be leveraged to maximize the effectiveness and reach of our 10th-anniversary celebrations.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and coordination abilities with a hands-on mentality and the capacity to manage multiple projects and events simultaneously.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and spoken German and English skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Team Collaboration: Experience working with cross-functional teams, with a demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and mediate between different interests.
  • Budgeting Skills: Experience in budget management and financial oversight of projects.
  • Flexibility & Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and tackle unknown challenges proactively.
  • Commitment: A deep commitment to the vision of Sea-Watch and the values of civil search and rescue.
