Sea-Watch e.V. is a non-profit initiative dedicated to the civil sea rescue of people on the move. In view of the humanitarian disaster in the central Mediterranean Sea-Watch provides emergency aid, demands and at the same time forces the rescue by the responsible European institutions and publicly stands up for legal escape routes. We are politically and religiously independent and are financed exclusively by donations.
The Shipmanagement department is looking for
Marine Legal Advisor (f/m/d) with 30 hours per week
to support the project with immediate effect. The main task is independent support of complex legal issues in essential key areas. The position is initially limited to 6 months as a fill-in for maternity leave with the possibility of an extension.
● Main point of reference for the exchange with flag state administration and class
● Strategical nautical/legal analysis and development
● Constant evaluation of opportunities and possibilities in relation to flag and class
● Exchange with insurances
● Follow up and advice on regulatory changes in shipping
● Main point of reference for statutory and classificatory rules in technical management
● Provide advice to technical staff and ship
● Support other projects in exchange with the department
● High degree of flexibility, need to familiarise oneself with different
●Overview of current legal issues, in-depth study of the individual topics
● Independent supervision of complex issues/projects/cases (also with support from volunteer
members)
● Support and exchange with volunteer members and existing teams
● Profound legal knowledge and ability to quickly open up new areas of law and legal questions
● Creativity in solving previously unknown / not yet in jurisprudence/literature clarified legal
issues
● Liaise with the legal department
