Sea-Watch is looking for a Master
Sea-Watch e.V. is a non-profit initiative dedicated to the civil sea rescue of refugees. In view of the humanitarian disaster in the central Mediterranean Sea-Watch provides emergency aid, demands and at the same time forces the rescue by the responsible European institutions and publicly stands up for legal escape routes. We are politically and religiously independent and are financed exclusively by donations.
All members of the seafarer’s world know very well, that sea rescue is nothing else than a duty. We also know, that there are people in distress and it is forbidden to look away. As much as by sea law, as by our hearts. These people need you, Captains, who are willing to sail our ships. Sure this seems like a very tough task. And yes, it is. But you would be embedded in a wonderful and well experienced team, which stands behind you and supports you wherever it can. As well as with our officers, you will be working hand in hand with a Head of Mission, who is well educated in all operational questions. During missions you have a professional support team on shore 24/7, consisting of a Legal Department, an Advocacy Department, a Medical Department and many more. You could become one of those people, who are writing European History in a way, that generations after us can be proud of it. By steering a ship and being a team member of professionals.
They really need you, and we are really looking forward to hear from you!
For long time assignments we offer:
For short term assignments (limited to one rescue operation) we also offer the following option as well as our on/off leave concept – you will choose upfront to your assignment:
Please apply via our online application form with a letter of motivation (especially why you want to work for Sea-Watch instead of a regular shipping company) and a CV (listening all your relevant certificates including their validity) without photo.
We are committed to an inclusive society without racism and with freedom of movement for all. In case of equal qualification, we favour applications from women*, LGBTQI*, BIPoC, people with disabilities, people with migration experience and people from other groups underrepresented in the maritime and NGO world. Should you feel addressed here, we invite you to provide relevant information on this in your application. Please refrain from providing application photos and any information on age and marital status.
