Sea-Watch e.V. is a non-profit initiative dedicated to the civil sea rescue of refugees. In view of the humanitarian disaster in the central Mediterranean Sea-Watch provides emergency aid, demands and at the same time forces the rescue by the responsible European institutions and publicly stands up for legal escape routes. We are politically and religiously independent and are financed exclusively by donations.
For our SEA-WATCH vessels we are looking for Able Seafarers to join our mission as of now.
The Deck Rating will take responsibility for many different aspects of operating Sea-Watch 3 or 4. You will work closely with the bosun and support them with maintenance work, ships cleaning and mooring operations. Additionally you will instruct other crewmembers on deck according to Sea-Watch principles and guidelines, promoting a safe and healthy work place where all people feel welcome. You make sure that everything runs smoothly and safe both during standard ship- as well as rescue operations. After rescues your duties will include care for survivors and crowd management as directed by the bosun and guest care coordinator.
Please send your application with letter of motivation (especially why you want to work for Sea-Watch instead of a regular shipping company) and a CV (listing all your relevant STCW certificates including their validity) to: application@sea-watch.org
You are welcome to refrain from providing application photos and information on age and marital status
As we are committed to an inclusive society without racism and with freedom of movement for all, we particularly welcome applications from women*, LGBTQIA+, BIPoC, people with disabilities, people with migration background and people from other groups under-represented in the maritime and NGO sector.
