Sea-Watch e.V. is a non-profit initiative dedicated to the civil sea rescue of people on the move. Given the humanitarian disaster in the central Mediterranean Sea-Watch provides emergency aid, demands, and at the same time, forces the rescue by the responsible European institutions and publicly stands up for legal escape routes. We are politically and religiously independent and are financed exclusively by donations.
The “Supervision and Psychological Support” team offers numerous formats for psychosocial support in order to strengthen our activists in their work and to systematically anchor sustainable activism in Civil Sea Rescue. Therefore the team coordinates various psychological debriefings, crisis interventions, and consultations in cooperation with approximately 150 volunteers across Europe. In addition, various team and organizational development measures, workshops, and moderations are carried out to strengthen the areas of burnout prevention, conflict culture, and anti-discrimination.
Supporting the coordination of briefings and other support services in the operational area (ship and air operations) and back office
Participating in content-related working groups as agreed and according to interest, for example in the development and planning of internal training programs
Supporting volunteer coordination and internal team development
Participation in weekly online team meetings, content exchange, internal training, and supervision
Collaboration in the team’s day-to-day business (mediation, email correspondence, etc.)
You are currently enrolled in a German university*
You identify with the goals and values of Sea-Watch e.V.
You are interested in the topics of psychosocial support, sustainable activism, and organizational development
You have strong organizational skills and enjoy planning and coordination tasks
You are a team player and enjoy self-organized work in flat hierarchies
You can occasionally be present at our Berlin office, especially during the training period
Insights into the psychosocial support work of an NGO
Content-related and organizational training and support as needed
