Sea-Watch is looking for an intern in the department “Supervision & Psychological Support”

Berlin / remote / from September 2024 / 20-30h per week

 

About us:  

Sea-Watch e.V. is a non-profit initiative dedicated to the civil sea rescue of people on the move. In view of the humanitarian disaster in the central Mediterranean Sea-Watch provides emergency aid, demands and at the same time forces the rescue by the responsible European institutions and publicly stands up for legal escape routes. We are politically and religiously independent and are financed exclusively by donations.

 

 

In order to provide our activists with the best possible support in their mission and to systematically strengthen sustainable activism in civilian Search and Rescue, the “Supervision and Psychological Support” team offers numerous formats for psychosocial support. To this end, the team coordinates various psychological de/briefings, crisis interventions and counselling sessions in cooperation with around 80 volunteers. In addition, different measures for team and organisational development as well as workshops and moderations are carried out to strengthen the topics of anti-discrimination, anti-burnout and grassroots democratic participation. As an intern in the department “Supervision & Psychological Support” you will support this team.

 

Your tasks:

  • Support in the coordination of de/briefings and other support services in the operational area (ship and airborne) and back office

  • Participation in content-related working groups as agreed and of interest

  • Support with volunteer coordination and internal team development

  • Participation in weekly online team meetings, content-related exchanges, internal training and supervision

  • Collaboration in the day-to-day business of the team (mediation, email correspondence, etc.)

  • If necessary, supervised development of your own project on the topics of the area

Your profile:

  • You are in training or enrolled in social work/ psychology/ a related subject at a German university

  • You have English or/and German language skills
  • You identify with the goals and vision of Sea-Watch e.V.

  • You are interested in the topics of psychosocial support, sustainable activism and organisational development

  • You have a strong organisational talent and enjoy planning and coordinating tasks

  • You have the ability to carry out tasks conscientiously and independently

  • You are a team player and enjoy self-organised work in flat hierarchies
