Sea-Watch e.V. is a non-profit initiative dedicated to the civil rescue of refugees at sea. In view of the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding along the European borders, Sea-Watch provides emergency aid, demands and forces the responsible European institutions to rescue and stands publicly for legal escape routes. We are politically and religiously independent and are financed exclusively by donations.

Medical Coordinator (f/m/d)

This advertisement is aimed at professionals with a background in medicine or health management. The coordination of the department will be shared with two experienced coordinators who will introduce you to the job. These coordinators share many of the below mentioned tasks.

Your profile

  • Professional medical background (e.g. in nursing, as a paramedic, in public health or as a medical doctor)
  • Good English language skills (both written and spoken)
  • Availability to travel to our ships, land based projects and team meetings if necessary
  • This job can be done next to a part time job at a hospital or in a different organization

 

Desirable skills

  • Management and team coordination experience
  • Experience in sea rescue operations
  • Working experience with NGOs (paid or as a volunteer)
  • Additional language skills (e.g. Italian, French or German)
  • Proficiency in using general office applications and video conference tools

Your tasks

  • Ensure the mission readiness of our rescue ships and land based projects with regards to medical topics
  • Serve as a contact person for individual ship missions. Accompanying the mission from shore, supporting in technical and administrative matters
  • Participate in the interdisciplinary mission support phone conferences of assigned missions
  • Consultation with the medical crewing on questions of team composition
  • Pre-mission briefings of the (volunteer) medical crews
  • Mission follow up incl. feedback from crew and other stake holders
  • Development of medical and operational SOPs and guidelines
  • Dealing with the numerous implications COVID has on the work of Sea-Watch
  • Coordination of volunteer work within the Medical and Humanitarian department
  • General management and development of the medical department
  • Regular participation in team meetings (video conferences)
  • Being open for new project ideas in an ever changing operational context

  • A monthly gross salary of 1.400€ for 20h/week. (The employment is currently depending on the individual circumstances as an employment relationship or on a self-employed basis.)
  • The position will initially be limited to a 6 month contract. We are striving to expand our team permanently and wish to extend the contract afterwards
