May 2, 2025 — This morning, the Conscience, a humanitarian aid vessel operated by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition and preparing to deliver essential assistance to Palestinians in Gaza, was attacked approximately two kilometers off Maltese territorial waters. According to the organization, the vessel was presumably struck by Israeli drone attacks. Following the attacks, the Conscience remains adrift in international waters.
Paul Wagner, Sea-Watch spokesperson, said:
The situation was monitored this afternoon by Sea-Watch’s monitoring aircraft Seabird 3, whose crew reported fluid leakage from the ship’s hull. “This is yet another violent attack on humanitarian missions and civil actors. Whoever is responsible must be held accountable. We stand in solidarity with the Conscience crew and condemn all violence against humanitarian aid workers.
Sea-Watch e.V., which routinely documents threats from Libyan militias against humanitarian actors and EU’s negligent manslaughter of refugees in distress in the Central Mediterranean, calls for an urgent international investigation.
