A wooden boat capsized right off Lesbos coast. 90 people were rescued, at least 2 dead were found. The number of missing people is unknown.
At about 14:30 we were called for emergency assistance and left immediately for the operational area. All available rescue teams were active to search for survivors.
On arrival we found a disturbing scenario: The bow was standing out upright in the high waves. Life vests, clothes and baggage everywhere.
The current situation cannot be accepted. Safe escape routes must be established.
